Always adjust Total Alkalinity first, then pH, then Calcium Hardness, and finally Cyanuric Acid (CYA / Stabilizer).

Adjusting pH before Alkalinity is a lost cause because unbuffered water will cause the pH to bounce endlessly

pH measures how acidic or basic the water is right now (scale of 0–14). Total Alkalinity is the buffer capacity, it acts as a shield to prevent drastic   pH swings when rain, bather load, or splash-out occurs.

Wait 20 to 30 minutes with the pump running after adding liquid pH or alkalinity adjusters. For granular balancers (like Calcium Hardness increaser or CYA), wait 2 to 4 hours (or until fully dissolved) to prevent skin and/or eye irritation and ensure proper circulation.

   No.

Combining them directly or adding them back-to-back can cause high local pH spikes, which turns the water cloudy and causes calcium to precipitate out of suspension. Wait at least 2 hours between chemical additions.

Adding Calcium Hardness increaser or Sodium Bicarbonate too quickly or adding them when pH/water temperature is already high causes temporary precipitation (calcium clouding). It typically clears within 12 to 24 hours of filtration.
